It was a good weekend and NEXT WEEK 19

Played soccer. Drank Beer. Got Naked. Good times. I am pretty sure there were pictures too. Oh and I went to charity dinner.

It seems as if I forgot to list NEXT last week. So sorry. It was a very good week to. Week 20 is tomorrow. You can listen at 107.1 The Peak. NEXT is a new music show brought to you by Snapple. Remember NEXT is an iMix. Go to iTunes and click on the homepage for iMixes. Search for an iMix titled "Next Week 19". Any problems. Email.

The Playlist:

Irving – Jen, Noting Matters to Me (Death in the Garden, Blood on the Flowers)
Some bands have one person that does most of the heavy lifting… not so much with this band. This leads to a very varied record. Pyschedelic pop rock shines through most of the album though.

The Waterboys – Fisherman’s Blues (alt take) (Fisherman’s Blues the Collectors Edition)
Released in 1988 Fisherman's Blues was reissued in 2006 with a bonus disc containing fourteen outtakes, alternate versions and late-night studio jams.

Butch Walker – Hot Girls in Good Moods (The Rise and Fall of…Butch Walker and the Let’s-Go-Out-Tonites)
Do you remember T REX? Butch Walker does on this tune. 3rd cd explores the seedy underbelly of LA. Butch was in the band Marvelous 3 for three albums before going solo. His day job is quiet odd: He collaborates with major girl-pop stars, like Avril Lavigne, Pink or Lindsay Lohan. I say odd because one listen of this wonderful cd and you will wonder how that is possible. He is also working on Supernova’s cd too.

The Colour – Devil’s Got a Holda Me ( Between Earth and Sky)
Another LA band actually 5 guys from Whittier CA. The have an ep out now and the full length will be release soon. Big blues-y rock and roll feel.

Easy Star All Stars with Citizen Cope – Karma Police (Radiodread)
2 New York friends get together and re-imagine Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon in 2003. Word of mouth praise for the album got people wondering what was next…why not the modern day Floyd. Radiohead. So they took on OK computer.

Gov’t Mule – Brighter Days (High and Mighty)
The leaders of Gov't Mule, Warren Haynes and Allen Woody, should be well-known to Allman Brothers fans for their stint in Southern rock's most famous native sons. I think may be the first album that is a band and not just guys backing Warren Haynes.
A big fat jam from former Brothers

The Black Angels – Manipulation (Passover)
First played them for you in week 3. This Austin band stretches out with a Sixties psych-o-drone

The Bouncing Souls – The Pizza Song (The Gold Record)
Together since 87 this is their 6th full length. The band's name is a reference to an advertising slogan used by punk standards, Doc Martens shoes, in reference to their air-cushioned soles. To this day, tags on Doc Martens read "with Bouncing Soles".

Los Lobos – The Road to Gila Bend (Acoustic) (The Town and the City)
What haven’t the Los Lobos done since the 70s when they first started out? playing anything from blues to folk and rockabilly. This thoughtful, mellow and varied set is a welcome comeback

Kelley Stoltz – The Sun Comes Through (Below the Branches)
All you need to know about Kelley Stoltz is this: he's a do it yourselfer from San Francisco who records his albums at home, this time with an 8 track reel to reel
