NEXT WEEK 20

NEXt is a new music show that plays on Wednesday nights at 11. Yes I know I am a day and a few dollars short. Sums up my life but don't worry as it repeats on Sunday nights at 8. Click on 107.1 The Peak's website to get the details. NEXT is also brought to you by Snapple.

Week 20s Playlist:

Snowden – Anti – Anti (Anti Anti)
Their name is from the novel Catch-22. Atlanta-via-Athens quartet's post-shoegazer/dream pop blends gloomy tunes with a hint of 80s post punk. This is their first full length.

Pearl Jam – Parachutes (Pearl Jam)
It’s been nearly 15 years since ten and this is album number 11. The first half of the cd is focused hard rock then this beautiful acoustic based tune—and then back to focused hard rock.

Keith – Mona Lisa’s Child (Red Thread)
Keith is, by far, the worst band name ever chosen. In an attempt to be ironic, they’ve ended up sounding simply mundane. Thankfully, that doesn’t go for their music too. They are four guys from Manchester England.

Brookville – Golden (Life in the Shade)
When he's not making records with Ivy, Andy Chase shapes a quirky kind of sound under the Brookville moniker. I guess you could call Brookville his solo project.

Richard Cheese – Sunday Bloody Sunday (Aperitif for Destruction)
4 whole cds worth of lounge singing covers of hip hop and top 40 hits. It’s like Bill Murray’s character on SNL. Look for a Christmas cd later this year.

Brothermandude – Automatic ( Automatic EP)
I myself have used Brother, Man, and Dude in fact I have used combos too like Oh Dude man or Brother my brother so when I saw this cd I knew I would have to play something. The band began way back in 1998 in Tampa, Florida. But a lot has happened since then. Today’s line up sees only one survivor from the original band – singer/songwriter, Shake and are based in the UK now.

Los Lonely Boys – My Way (Sacred)
Their blend of influences included the music of Richie Valens, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Willie Nelson, Fats Domino, Santana and Lynyrd Skynyrd. A "musical burrito" – is how they describe the CD's blend of electric blues, Texas roots music, Latin beats, soulful grooves and old-fashioned rock.

The Bees (US) – Imaginary Girl (High Society)
Often referred to as "Nashville's best poorly kept secret," the as-yet-unsigned band is poised for a national breakthrough There is a UK band called the Bees too thus the US in the moniker.

Cracker – Euro-Trash Girl (Greatest Hits Redux)
greatest hits re-recorded and band endorsed
motive for the re-dos ... a defiant nose-thumbing at the band's former major record label, whose own release of the original recordings came out at the same time. Believe it or not they have actually stretched out this classic to over 9 minutes.

Horace Andy – Love me Baby (Natty Dread a Weh She Want)
Legendary roots reggae sing starting recording in the 60s. Thanks to Massive Attack in the 90s was introduced to a new generation.
