I missed the new releases yesterday. Too busy listening to the new DCFC. It is great but not their best. A must buy but seriously get into their back catalogue. Try the "new" Dylan. Get the various artists at Austin City Limits and if you don't have anything by Todd Snider make sure to get his best of set. The man is pure gold. I was pretty disappointed with the Corals latest (you reading this HM) and EC well it's not bad it's just not memorable. That is sad coming from a former god. Enjoy.

Bob Dylan The Bootleg Series, Vol. 7: No Direction Home -
The seventh volume of Bob Dylan's ongoing Bootleg Series doubles as the soundtrack to No Direction Home, Martin Scorsese's feature-length documentary covering the first act of Dylan's career (it's scheduled to air on PBS in September, and will be released on DVD that month, too). This double-disc set features a selection of 26 unreleased tracks (plus two previously released cuts), ranging from home recordings and live performances to alternate studio takes from Highway 61 Revisited and Blonde on Blonde. While there's nothing particularly revelatory here, all the music is excellent and the album as a whole paints a good picture of Dylan's evolution from Woody Guthrie devotee to rock visionary.
Kanye West Late Registration Roc-A-Fella
On Late Registration, the follow-up to the multi-platinum College Dropout, West sets out to prove that his surprise solo success was no fluke and that he hasn't run out of ideas. Jon Brion (Fiona Apple, Aimee Mann), an unlikely collaborator, co-produces most of the tracks.

The title is from The Helio Sequence's "Don't look away". It's punky. It's dancey. It's two guys making alot of fun noise. They are from Portland and this is cd number 3. I think the first two might be a bit better. Think of them as Radiohead's little cousin who tries really hard and plays a harmonica in some tunes.

How about P. Silly?
Contact Music reports: Rap mogul SEAN 'P DIDDY' COMBS has unveiled his new stage moniker - he wants to be called just DIDDY.
Combs - who changed his name from PUFF DADDY and PUFFY before adopting the name P Diddy in 2001 - announced his moniker change in New York City yesterday (16AUG05).
He tells MTV News, "It's five letters, one word. The name is changed. We made it simpler. We removed the P. The P was getting in between us. We're entering the age of Diddy.
Walken in '08. A hoax but I would still vote for him. This is the man that said:
"Sometimes when I'm driving... on the road at night... I see two headlights coming toward me. Fast. I have this sudden impulse to turn the wheel quickly, head-on into the oncoming car. I can anticipate the explosion. The sound of shattering glass. The... flames rising out of the flowing gasoline." or
This watch was on your Daddy's wrist when he was shot down over Hanoi. He was captured and put in a Vietnamese prison camp. Now he knew if the gooks ever saw the watch it's be confiscated. The way your Daddy looked at it, that watch was your birthright. And he'd be damned if and slopeheads were gonna put their greasy yella hands on his boy's birthright. So he hid it in the one place he knew he could hide somethin'. His ass. Five long years, he wore this watch up his ass. Then when he died of disentary, he gave me the watch. I hid with uncomfortable hunk of metal up my ass for two years. Then, after seven years, I was sent home to my family. And now, little man, I give the watch to you.
We have done worse.

On TV tonight
BEN HARPER, JACK JOHNSON Last Call With Carson Daly (NBC)
Former President Bill Clinton is getting his own CD music compilation - and don't bother suggesting any funny names.
While some cheeky wags suggested yesterday calling the CD something blue, like "The Joy of Sax," organizers say it will simply be called, "The Bill Clinton Collection: Selections from the Clinton Music Room."
The Clinton Presidential Foundation has been working for months to acquire licensing rights to certain titles and has finally done so, foundation President Skip Rutherford said.
The 11-track disk includes tunes such as "My One and Only Love" by John Coltrane; "Harlem Nocturne" by David Sanborn; "My Funny Valentine" by Miles Davis; "Summertime" by Zoot Sims; "I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free" by Nina Simone, and "Chelsea Morning" by Judy Collins.
The CD is the latest joint venture for the Clinton Library and the Clinton Museum Store.
Clinton's office in New York has already reviewed the CD liner notes, and museum store operator Connie Fails said the compilation will be on sale in a month to five weeks.

NMC reports: It was one small step for man, one giant leap for U2 last week when the Space Shuttle Discovery crew got a U2 wake-up call.
The sleepy astronauts of Discovery got a rock 'n' roll wake-up call on July 28th, when U2's hit single "Vertigo" was piped through their space ship. Discovery Pilot Jim Kelly requested the song by the Irish rockers.
According to U2.com, this is the first time U2 has been played in space
NME reports: FRANZ FERDINAND have renamed their second album.
The band had originally planned to not name any of their albums, and throughout the recording process had said the album would be simply titled ’Franz Ferdinand’.
However, the album is now called ’You Could Have It So Much Better…With Franz Ferdinand’ and is released on October 3.

Life is full of questions...oh so many questions.
hendrix pretended to be gay to get out of army. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Also there is a great article in Rolling Stone on Jimi.
Right wing comic book. I don't think it's suppose to be funny. I guess they forgot about this gem. ACC Studios's "Liber(ali)ty for All" boasts that it has received a huge amount of coverage on American talk radio. This may possibly be assisted by the fact that three of its stars are.. you guessed it, American talk radio hosts. Whether Osama bin Laden will also plug it in his next broadcast has yet to be established.
It's quite impressive given that the story is set in 2021, when G Gordon Liddy, portrayed straddling a Harley on the front cover, will be 90, and Oliver North 80. Sean Hannity, from a look at the preview pages, looks a lot better in his 60s than he does in his 40s, having lost an eye and a fair bit of weight and gained a robot arm. Again this is not funny or maybe it is.
and leave you with some Flash Bart Fun. and She Blocked Me.
