NEXT WEEK 22

Something different today boys and girls. You get me for 30 minutes and then a guest DJ for the last 30 minutes of NEXT. It is still sponsored by Snapple and you can still stream it at 1071thepeak.com. You can listen to it Wednesday night at 11 and it repeats on Sunday nights at 8. The guest dj will be Mike Viola. He will be in town (Larchmont, NY) for a show at The Watercolor Cafe on Tuesday the 26th(probably best know for writing and singing "That Thing You Do"). Anyway I talked to him and we came up with the guest dj thing. Hopefully see you at the show if you are around. I might have a few cds and Peak Shirts to give away too.

Also remember that Next is an iMix. Search for an iMix on iTunes named "Next Week 22" or if you have iTunes already try clicking here for a link to the iMix.

The playlist for NEXT:
Teddybears(featuring Neneh Cherry) – Yours to Keep (Soft Machine )
A Swedish electronic trio. Soft Machine is their us debut. This song was re-recorded with Neneh Cherry handling the lead vocals. The original can be found on a 2001 released title Rock n roll high school.

REM – Gardening at Night (slow electric demo) (And I Feel Fine the Rarities)
This is the REM I remember and love. A must own. Period. End of story.

Jennifer O’Connor – Turn It Down (Over the Mountain, Across the Valley and Back to The Stars)
I know you gotta suffer for your art, but damn. Over the Mountain, Across the Valley, and Back to the Stars, includes songs inspired by the deaths of her two sisters, which make the stormy break-up that also precipitated the album seem like just another day in the life.

Jackie Green – Closer To You (American Myth)
Youth is wasted on the youth…not this youth. This is a young singer songwriter from California you should catch on the way up.

John Mayer – Bold as Love (continuum)
A Jimi Hendrix cover

The Mountain Goats – Half Dead (Get Lonely)
Not as direct as the last cd – which was about the abuse he suffered from a step dad. This one is well about being lonely. If you are currently breaking up with someone this cd will be your very best friend.

The Receiver – Sober Hands (Decades)
Hailing from Columbus, The Receiver is a duo-- brothers Casey and Jesse Cooper. This is their second cd.

The second 30 minutes are picks by guest dj Mike Viola.

Hey you made it this far so how about some YouTube love. Little Girl Giant.

More later
Bro

Thanks Paul

Do you know of a way to link your own mp3s and not just from the artists sites?

Chris, I use Typepad which allows you to add your own mp3 files to your posts, I'm not sure what system you are using here.
